Messages from Anaheim's Adopted Soldiers
Dear Anthony Gatlin,
Thank you for your interest in the Adopt A US Soldier organization. Adoption can be as easy as writing letters or as involved as sending care packages. Your level of participation is entirely up to you.
Sincerely,
Adopted US Soldier
If any members would like to help our soldiers and donate supplies, please bring them to the lodge and we will ship them out to them.
Soldiers write…
Dear Mr. Gatlin,
First off I just want to thank you for all of your support so far during my deployment here in
Afghanistan. I’m sorry this letter is coming so late in the game, but this place isn’t the best I should say,
so things don’t always go “according to plan”.
Wish I could have written sooner, but due to some complications I haven’t been able to. Just
yesterday I received the package of protein you sent and I just want to say thank you, I definitely
needed that stuff and you basically hit the nail on the head.
Honestly, you’re one of the first supporters to get us what we actually asked for and not just some
random stuff (not saying the other supporters are not as good, but we ask for things for a reason,
hopefully you understand).
I am so appreciative of what you have done, so I just wanted to write you and let you personally
know. Everything you sent was great and I also have the picture you sent in a previous box on my wall
along with other stuff I’ve received. Thank you Anthony, you’re a hero in our eyes.
Hopefully you receive this email. My unit and I should be out of this country in the next couple of
months. Take care.

To whomever may adopt me and my unit,
My name is LCpl Yontz and today while browsing google.com I came across the site Adopt A US Soldier.org. Currently my unit and I are in Afghanistan. We arrived here about a month ago and so far so good. We're from Camp Pendleton, Ca9th Comm Battalion We are Satellite Communication operators. Our job is very important to mission accomplishment without my unit, there would be no communications on the battle field. At my current location we don't have a PX or exchange (there's no where to buy supplies, food, etc)our living conditions are OK, we sleep in tents in our sleep systems and there are showers available (which is very nice)we don't have a chow hall so we eat a lot of MRE's (after a while, they get old quick lol)
It's only March but its hotter than hell here. Weather is hot during the day and cold at night (were prone to getting sick because of it). I wanted to submit this request to anyone who is willing to help my unit out. Myself and a lot of my Marines work out daily and since there is no where to buy supplements aka protein, creatine, multi-vitamins, ect)we brought some stuff out here with us but its already been used up.(since there are multiple Marines using it at the same time)some of the products we used are :Gaspari Nutrition- Novedex XT Gaspari Nutrition- SIZEON Gaspari Nutrition- Real Mass Gainer Muscle Tech- Leukic Hardcore Gaspari Nutrition-Myo Fusion Shaker Bottle (for protein)Optimum Nutrition Creatine Powder Optimum Nutrition Glutamine 1000g capsules Optimum Nutrition Multi-Vitamin **Basically Protein Powder, Creatine, Glutamine, weight gainer powder, multi vitamins** (those were just the brands we used) I know it may be asking for a lot but in our free time we have nothing better to do other than work out. Watching movies gets old after a while so we work out instead to keep ours minds clear of thoughts back home, family, friends, etc. We're out here for a Year long deployment, and we just arrived in January. The protein and other! Items help us seek self improvement and uphold Marine Corps traditions. Powerbars, and other protein bars also help.
Enough about our wants. I want to take a moment to introduce myself to you. As you already know, My name is Taylor Yontz and I am a United States Marine. I'm 20 years old and have been in the Corps for just over 2 years. This is my first deployment and other than what we don't have, so far so good. Like you probably already know, i love working out.i also enjoy sports (but there aren't many sports going on out here) soccer, track and field, baseball, and basketball were my favorites in High School but that was in the past I have a mother and father but they are divorced.it happened when i was younger but since then I’ve learned to live with it. Both of my parents re married and now are happier than ever. I have 2 half sisters and 1 step brother sisters are both 11 (not twins) separate marriages and step brother is from my step dad. I'm originally from Georgia but I sound like im from New York or somewhere in the New England area (people never believe me when I say I’m from Georgia lol)I hope this message has touched someone in a way that inspires them to help us out. Anything and everything received will be appreciated more than you know.Just knowing there are people out in this world willing to support us makes me feel that much better about being a Marine. Thank You for your time. God Bless.
Sincerely,
Taylor

About Adopt A US Soldier:
Adopt A US Soldier is a volunteer-based, 501 (3) c non-profit organization. Our organization connects military personnel who would like to be "adopted" with people who would like to provide support and recognition via letters and care packages. To provide additional means of support to our military personnel, Adopt A US Soldier is accepting monetary donations (via PayPal) to ensure its objective of improving deployment quality of life and morale is sustained. Adopt A US Soldier is also always looking for corporate sponsors to donate products and/or services to our deployed service men and women. All donations are fully tax deductible and greatly appreciated. Thank you again for your support; it means so very much to the brave men and women serving our nation.
Service men and women tell us there is nothing like receiving something in the mail after coming back to their Iraqi base. Take heart knowing you have put a smile on their face that day…and they will remember you for years to come.
